Post Doctoral Fellowship

Guidelines for Nanabhai Moos Postdoctoral Fellowship (NMRF) Program

  • Candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in an area of research pursued in IIG or proof of viva-voce at the time of submission of an application.

  • At least two publications in peer reviewed journals as first author.

  • Average impact factor of the publications in peer reviewed journals published as first author must be at least 2.

  • The research areas to be pursued under postdoctoral research at IIG should be directly relevant to the research activities of IIG. The applications should include detailed research plan, name of the proposed collaborator at IIG, complete CV including list of publications etc.

  • Two-step process is followed for the selection. The eligible applications will be screened by an internal committee and the final selection through an expert committee. Each shortlisted candidate will make a presentation of the proposed research project before a committee consisting of external and internal experts, followed by an interview/discussion with the committee.

  • Applications to Moos fellowship are received throughout the year. However, selections will be made once in every 6 months when sufficient number of applications is received.

  • Upper age limit is 32 years that is relaxable up to 3 years in case of OBC and up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Woman/Physically challenged candidates.

  • Selected candidate will get a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 75,000 per month. The Moos Fellows are also eligible for accommodation, subject to the availability and as per IIG policy. If accommodation is not provided, HRA will be paid as applicable. In addition to the fellowship, a contingency grant of Rs.3.00 Lakhs per annum may be provided to facilitate his/her research.

Guidelines for RA Fellowship

(a) Research Associateship-I (candidates submitted their Ph.D. thesis & waiting for the Ph.D. degree)
Candidates should fulfil the following criteria to be eligible for the Research Associate I (RA-I) to pursue postdoctoral research at the Institute:

  • The candidate should have at least one first author publication in peer reviewed journal.

  • These publications should be part of their Ph.D. thesis work.

  • The research areas to be pursued under postdoctoral research at IIG should be directly relevant to the research activities of IIG or ongoing scientific programs.

  • The candidates should submit their research proposal and proof of thesis submission along with the application. They are required to deliver a talk based on their research proposal. The candidates will be considered for RA-I from the date of approval of the competent authority.

  • The RA-I tenure will be for a period of one year only.

  • RA-I should mandatorily be included under a medical insurance scheme as per IIG’s existing norms and this procedure should be done by IIG, HRD.

  • Selected candidate will get a consolidated fellowship as per IIG norms. The RAs are also eligible for accommodation, subject to the availability and as per IIG policy. If accommodation is not provided, HRA will be paid as applicable.

 (b) Research Associateship II-III (candidate having Ph.D. degree & research experience)
To pursue postdoctoral research at IIG under any scheme/stream as RAII-III the candidate should fulfil the following criteria:

  • The candidate should have a minimum of two publications, related to the thesis, in peer reviewed international journals as first author.

  • Age limit: 35 years on the date of submission of application.

  • The research areas to be pursued under postdoctoral research at IIG should be directly relevant to the research activities of IIG or ongoing scientific programs.

  • The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree and minimum one-year research experience after the submission of the thesis.

  • The application should include (i) detailed research proposal for two years, (ii) name of the host scientist at IIG & consent letter (iii) complete CV, (iv) list of publications, (v) synopsis of the thesis.

  • Applications for RAII-III will be accepted any time in a year subject to fulfilment of conditions (1) to (4).

  • The shortlisted candidates shall make a presentation before the selection committee at IIG. If selected, the initial tenure will be for a period of one year, which will be extended by another one year by reviewing the progress of research work at the end of first year by APC.

  • RAII-III should mandatorily be included under a medical insurance scheme as per IIG’s existing norms and this procedure should be done by IIG, HRD.

  • RAII-III should participate in IIG’s academic program by delivering lectures to Ph.D. students. Also, they should actively participate in IIG’s science outreach program by delivering 4-5 lectures in school/colleges per year.

  • Selected candidate will get a consolidated fellowship as per IIG norms. The RAs are also eligible for accommodation, subject to the availability and as per IIG policy. If accommodation is not provided, HRA will be paid as applicable.
